I've been hesitant to post about this next storm system because long-range computer forecasts can be extremely unreliable early in the rain season. They have been showing various paths for this upcoming storm - some directly overhead, some to our south.
Currently there is a large storm system spinning over the west coast of Canada, which is seen in the satellite loop below. Some energy will dive down the backside of this system and then head our way this weekend.
There will be a tropical connection with this system, which will transport moisture into our area. This is also called an atmospheric river, and can be seen on the second image below, which is the forecast for Saturday night. This will increase the chances for heavy rain Saturday night into early Sunday.
It's still too early to pinpoint timing and storm track - this storm could drift to our south. I've posted the current computer projection for rainfall through Sunday.
Keep a close eye to the forecast heading into this weekend. I'll definitely have more updates here!
