NEXT RAIN CHANCE SAN DIEGO: UPDATED WEDNESDAY 3-6-2024

A small but potent storm system is approaching our area. You can spot it right off the coastline in the satellite loop below.

Showers and isolated thunderstorms will arrive between 4-6 PM. Showers and isolated thunderstorms/downpours will persist through tonight. Some small hail could accompany the strongest thunderstorms. Showers should diminish early Thursday morning.

An isolated shower could pop up throughout Thursday as a weak system passes overhead, though the best chances for this will be in the mountains (20%).

Snow levels will start at 6,000-7,000 feet this afternoon. Levels will then drop to 5,000-6,000 feet tonight as the core of the system passes. A few inches of snow will accumulate in the tallest mountains in the county.

I've posted the rain and snow projections below. It looks like there will be a lull in the weather pattern in the coming days as a blocking pattern settles overhead. We could possibly see a break in this pattern by the end of the month. I'll keep an eye on it!
