HEAT WAVE HEADED TO SAN DIEGO FOR THE MIDDLE OF AUGUST 2015

I'm currently tracking a massive ridge in the jet stream. These are typical during the summertime. The core of this ridge will bring dry and extremely hot weather. Right now it is centered over Texas, which is seeing 100 degree heat. This ridge will migrate westward over the next few days and bring a heat wave to Southern California.

Inland temperatures will climb to near 90 by the end of the week. The desert will be oppressively hot. Coastal regions might be saved by a marine layer, but if the sun pops out, temps could easily reach the low to mid 80s.

It looks like this pattern will persist for at least a week or two. I'll keep you posted.
