WEATHER UPDATE: TUESDAY 1-6-2026

A storm system is currently several hundred miles off the coast of Southern California. You can spot it spinning in the satellite loop below. It's going to continue moving southeast in the next two days.

The core is going to miss us to the south, so the heaviest rain will be across the border in Mexico. Regardless, it will be close enough to our area to bring a chance for isolated showers through today.

The best chance for some more steady rain will be this evening and tonight, especially for areas along the border. Isolated showers will still be possible Wednesday, then the rain chances diminish Wednesday evening as the system exits.

I've posted the computer projected rain totals, which shouldn't be much, though isolated areas in the mountains could see around an inch.

Afterwards, we are heading into an extended dry period that will persist for almost two weeks. I'll keep an eye on it and post updates if I see a pattern change.
