It's safe to say the most of the rain has now exited the region. Clouds will slowly break through the day and then return for coastal areas, where overnight mist is possible.

2 Day Rain Totals - Click To Enlarge

Rain totals were impressive in some parts of San Diego county, especially in the mountains.

We will see a brief warm up Sunday and Monday, then cooler weather settles in for the end of the week. Another storm system will approach the area Thursday and Friday and will bring a chance for more rain. The track of the storm will dictate the amount we receive. I'll have more updates later in the week. It appears that we will generally stay in a cool weather pattern for the next two weeks.

WEATHER UPDATE: 4:30 PM FRIDAY 5/8

4:30 PM UPDATE
A few showers and isolated downpours are still possible this evening and tonight. It was nice to hear some thunder last night and this morning!

Rain chances diminish early Saturday morning, though a lingering stray shower in the mountains is possible. Here are the rain totals so far today:

6:30 AM UPDATE
Rain is likely this morning as a storm system passes the area. Heavy downpours and possibly thunder will accompany the strongest storms. This will cause major headaches for the morning commute!

Intermittent showers will still be possible on-and-off this afternoon and evening. Rain chances will diminish by Saturday morning.

NEXT RAIN CHANCE SAN DIEGO: UPDATED SUNDAY 5/3/2015

A storm system will dive out of the Gulf Of Alaska and down the West Coast of North America and settle into our region (you can spot it on the map to the right). Unfortunately, this isn't an ideal pathway for a good rain storm. Regardless, it will bring showers to Southern California late Thursday and into Friday.

The long term pattern is favorable for another chance for rain around 5-12 to 5-15. It's definitely something to watch. In addition, this pattern will bring cooler than average conditions.
