NEXT RAIN CHANCE SAN DIEGO: UPDATED SUNDAY 2-8-2026

After a long period of dry and warm weather, the pattern is about to change. Several storm systems will dive out of the Gulf of Alaska and bring our area cooler weather and a few rounds of rain.

I've posted two maps of low level temperatures below. The first map shows our current pattern, where most of the Western U.S. is warm. The second map is nine days from now, where you can see that cool air has overspread the entire West Coast.

The first round of rain will arrive Tuesday night into early Wednesday as a small system drifts past our area.

The next round of rain will be more substantial as a more potent system approaches. We should see rain develop Sunday night and persist through Monday (2/15 to 2/16). Scattered light showers could linger into Tuesday as well. This is still a developing situation that is more than a week away, so there could be some adjustments on the timing of this system, so stay tuned.

The last round of rain will pass on Wednesday, 2/18. Again, this a far into the future, so this timing will be adjusted.
