NEXT RAIN CHANCE SAN DIEGO: UPDATED WEDNESDAY 1-17-2024

A large storm system is churning a couple thousand miles off the California coast (seen in the satellite loop below). Pieces of this system will move over our area in the coming days and bring periods of rainfall.

The first round will arrive Saturday, where light showers will be possible, especially late in the day. A few more showers will linger into early Sunday.

A better chance for more steady moderate to heavy rain will arrive on Monday. This rain will linger into early Tuesday.

Rain totals will range from 1.0 to 2.0", Saturday through Tuesday. I've posted the computer projections below.

Afterwards, it looks like a blocking pattern will set up, which will keep us dry for the remainder of January. Temperatures will also climb into the 70s inland.
