NEXT RAIN CHANCE SAN DIEGO: UPDATED TUESDAY 3-3-2020

I'm keeping an eye on a couple storm systems that could bring rain to San Diego. The first will clip the area Saturday into early Sunday. The moisture with this system is limited, so most areas in San Diego county will only receive about a quarter inch of rainfall. Snow levels will stay fairly high with this system, so I'm not expecting any snow in local mountains.

The next system will be slower and track in off the Pacific (upper level map below). This one has more potential to bring significant rain to the area next workweek - roughly Tuesday to Thursday. It's still very early to get excited about this system. Long term computer forecasts tend to be unreliable heading into springtime. A slight shift in the track of the system will have a dramatic impact on the rain potential (see last weekend?). I'll keep an eye and bring updates in the coming days. We definitely need the rainfall!
