A few showers and cooler weather could possibly head this way in about a week.
The European (ECMWF) computer forecast model has been hinting at an inside slider heading our way for this upcoming Sunday (10/4) and Monday (10/5). You can see the track marked by arrows on the maps below. The Canadian computer model has a similar system, but moves things a little slower.
This type of system dives southward into our area quickly, plus, its' track prevents it from tapping into much moisture. They usually result in a few showers, cooler weather and windy conditions (especially in the mountains).
Unfortunately, this system might drift too far east. In fact, the ECMWF ensemble pushes it a little farther east than the operational model. In addition, it isn't as pronounced. It would be nice to see it dive a little farther south.
Regardless, this is definitely something to watch in the coming days. At the very least, we could get a brief break from the heat on Sunday and Monday, though gusty winds could equate to fire danger.
