Our weather pattern is about to drastically change. I've been watching this for the past few days. The sunny and warm weather for the past thirty days was caused by a powerful ridge, which governed our weather pattern. You can spot it on the map below (the red blob over the West Coast).
This ridge will start to break down this weekend. Morning fog, drizzle and maybe a light shower will be possible Saturday and especially Sunday. It won't be a complete washout, so don't cancel any outdoor plans. However, definitely be prepared for a little rain.
The pattern will really snap by the end of the month (spot the blue blob over the West Coast on the map below). During this time, we should see a bona fide rain chance. My initial guess will be the 2/26 to 3/2 time frame. This is great news because Southern California needs more rain! Temperatures will stay cooler than normal for the end of February and the start of March.
I'll continue to bring updates in the coming days.
