NEXT RAIN CHANCE SAN DIEGO: UPDATED MONDAY 4-19-2021

A large storm system has been spinning in the Gulf of Alaska over the past couple days. A piece of this system has broken away and is drifting towards the Pacific Northwest. You can see this split on the satellite loop below: the parent storm continues to move northward towards the Aleutian Islands of Alaska while the smaller storm moves southeastward. 

Unfortunately this system is weak and won't have access to much moisture (an ongoing trend this La Nina rain season). Regardless, we could see a few light rain showers Wednesday and Thursday. It won't amount to much, but is better than nothing!

Long range computer forecasts are hinting at a bigger system moving into our area next Monday. Although the majority of rainfall will miss us to the north, we could still see some moderate showers. I'll keep an eye on it and update the blog accordingly.
