EXTREME HEAT IN SAN DIEGO: UPDATED WEDNESDAY 6-14-2017

Hot air will slowly move into the region over the next few days. You can spot the progression of the heat core on the maps below (indicated by the shades of red and purple).

Highs will reach the mid 80s on Thursday and then upper 80s to near 90 heading into the weekend. Further inland, the heat will be more intense, where highs will easily exceed 100.

The core of the heat will settle overhead on Monday and Tuesday, where we should easily see highs in the 90s. Ultimately it depends on the thickness of the marine layer, which could be our saving grace for coastal and areas just inland. Mountains and desert areas will be unbearable.

Long range computer forecasts are hinting at a gradual break down of the pattern possibly around Sunday 6/25 to Tuesday 6/27. I'll keep monitoring the trends and bring more updates.
