NEXT RAIN CHANCE SAN DIEGO: UPDATED 1-24-2024

A small front will clip the area on Thursday and give us a quick chance for a shower or two. Otherwise, most of the day looks dry.

I'm much more interested in the pattern change in the coming days. We will first get to enjoy a nice period of dry and warm weather from Saturday, 1/27 through Wednesday, 1/31. You can see the warm air surging northward in computer projection below.

Afterwards, a powerful cold front will blast through the area, bringing rain back on Thursday, 2/1. Cold air will then funnel into the area for the first week of February. Periods of rain will be possible from Friday, 2/2 through Monday, 2/5. We could also see an isolated thunderstorm as the core of the system settles overhead. Snow levels will also drop to the lowest levels so far this winter.

This is still very far into the future, so some of the details on timing will change. However, long range computer forecasts have been very consistent with the upcoming cold snap, so be prepared!

I'll have more updates in the coming days.
