NEXT RAIN CHANCE SAN DIEGO: UPDATED MONDAY 2-24-2020

For the past few days, computer forecasts have been consistently projecting a storm system moving into our area by this upcoming Sunday. In the meantime, it is going to be warm for most of this workweek. High temperatures on Tuesday through Friday will be near or slightly above 80. The air will also be extremely dry (desert-like).

Some clouds will move into our skies by late Saturday, however, it will be a dry day with highs dropping back into the upper 60s. Showers should arrive by midday Sunday. A quick downpour is also possible as the core of the system settles in Sunday night into Monday. Most of the rain will move out by late Monday. The dry air will limit the rain potential, though most areas should see about a half inch of rainfall. I've posted the computer forecast for rain totals below.

Snow levels will start at 5,000-6,000 feet Sunday morning, then rapidly drop to 4,000-4,500 feet late Sunday into Monday. Local mountains should see some light snow accumulations, though it's still too early to give any accurate projections. I've posted the computer forecast for snow below.

I'll bring more updates if there are any changes to this forecast. It looks like another rain chance could arrive by late next workweek. Something also to watch!

NEXT RAIN CHANCE SAIN DIEGO: UPDATED TUESDAY 2-18-2020

A storm system will move out of the Gulf Of Alaska and into our area Friday into Saturday. Unfortunately, this system will weaken substantially by the time it arrives. This will limit the rain potential.

Showers will arrive Friday night and will then persist on-and-off through Saturday. Rain totals should remain below 0.25" for most locations. Isolated areas, especially in the mountains could possibly get up to 0.5". I've included a computer forecast for rain totals below.

Snow levels will generally range from 5,500 to 6,500 feet Friday night through Saturday.

NEXT RAIN CHANCE SAN DIEGO: UPDATED SATURDAY 2-8-2020

A storm system is currently passing over Oregon and drifting southward towards California. It will bring our area clouds and a chance for a few light showers on Sunday. The chance for occasional showers will persist through Monday and then the system will meander eastward by Tuesday. Rain totals will unfortunately be low with most areas seeing a quarter inch or less. Mountain areas could receive a half inch to an inch.

Snow levels will be fairly high through the day Sunday, but will eventually drop to 4,500 to 5,000 feet Sunday night. In San Diego County, snow accumulations will be 2-4" on the tallest mountains above 5,000 feet.

Another storm system will dive into our area by next Friday and Saturday. Computer forecasts have been inconsistent with this scenario, so I will continue to watch it and bring more updates once the picture becomes more clear.
