I wish I had good news about rainfall, however, thanks to La Nina, the overall weather pattern isn't friendly to sustained rain events in Southern California. San Diego has only received 2.78" of rainfall so far this rain season. That's 2.96" below average. Here's a link to the daily climate report:

Looking at the Pacific satellite loop this morning (below), you can spot clouds from a couple storm systems that are headed our way.
The first system will clip our area early Friday and bring a quick chance for showers (40%). Another system will then arrive late Saturday into Saturday night. This will also bring a quick chance for a few showers (40%). Otherwise, the majority of the weekend looks dry. Rain totals won't put a dent in our rain deficit - perhaps we could get 0.1" to 0.4" total from both systems. Gusty winds are also expected with both storms.
Looking at the long range forecast, I don't see much change in the overall pattern. In fact, the last couple weeks of February could remain dry. Luckily there are signs of La Nina weakening, which is encouraging, but it might be too little too late. I'll keep watching and bring updates when needed.
